Harbans Duggal - Obituary
It is with immense sadness that we share the passing of Harbans Lal Duggal of Riverview NB on January 10, 2015 at 2:30 am in the Moncton Hospital - with his family at his side.He was 83 years old. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and loyal friend. We all cherish his unlimited love and affection, kindness, generosity, and warmth – and miss him immensely.He was born on March 31, 1931 in Hadiabad, Punjab, India. In 1959 he married the love of his life Sudesh Duggal, his life partner of 55 years.He studied Electrical Engineering in India, and then taught at Guru Nanak Engineering College for 6 years. He came to Canada on a Commonwealth Scholarship in 1965 to do a second Masters in Electrical Engineering at Nova Scotia Technical College.In 1966, he joined the Canadian Civil Service – and spent his 30 year career as an Electrical Engineer with Transport Canada – working on airport operations across the Atlantic region.He was one of the founding members of the Indo-Canada Association Moncton.He was a great athlete – in his early life playing tennis, soccer, basketball, and badminton. He also loved golf and played avidly for decades in Moncton and at his winter home in Clearwater, Florida. He always knew that being active was integral to his life.He will be greatly missed by his wife – Sudesh Duggal of Riverview, NB, his daughters Reema Duggal of Oakville, ON (Prashant Lal) and Seema Duggal of Toronto, ON, his grandsons Vikram Lal and Hari Lal, and his sister Bimla Verma of New Delhi. He is predeceased by his parents Udho Ram and Chambi, and his siblings, Manohar Lal, Raj Mohini, Shanti, and Har Krishan.Funeral arrangements will be held at Tuttle Bothers Riverview Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview, NB. A private cremation ceremony will be from 1:00 to 1:30 pm.An open Celebration of Life ceremony will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Online condolences may be made at www.tuttlefuneralhome.ca.
